1. Sipahi Maqbool Hussain
Sipahi Maqbool Hussain is the chapter in Pakistan’s history that, after being closed for four decades, opened a wave of grief and anger across the nation.
The drama serial on the life of Maqbool Hussain, a Pakistani soldier who was imprisoned in India for 40 years, was co-produced by ISPR and Interflow Communications Limited, showing how the soldier joined the Azad Kashmir Regiment. He went missing during the 1965 Pak-India war.
Hassan Niazi played the role of young Maqbool Hussain while Haider Imam Rizvi gave his instructions, which showed how much the soldier was tortured to find out his identity, but he always wrote number 335139 in reply. However, his tongue and nails were also cut off during the violence.
Forty years later, during the transfer of civilian prisoners from India in 2005, Maqbool Hussain was also extradited to Pakistan at the Wagah border. His parents and brother had all passed away. At the end of the drama, the real soldier, Maqbool Hussain, is shown being greeted with flowers and honors by the military.
