Awami Muslim League Political Party chief, Sheikh Rasheed, recently revealed that Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt approached him multiple times, requesting permission to film at his historic residence, Lal Haveli, in Rawalpindi. According to Sheikh Rasheed, Bhatt wanted to shoot a movie about Dhan Raj at the Haveli but was refused each time.
In a viral video, He shared that Bhatt had visited Pakistan twice to make his request but was denied access. Sheikh Rasheed explained that he handles all documentaries made about Lal Haveli and was frustrated by rumors that the property was much larger than it is, clarifying that it only covers three marlas.
He also shared that he plans to donate Lal Haveli to a university after his death, ensuring it serves an educational purpose.
In 2022, He faced a legal battle when authorities ordered him to vacate Lal Haveli, sealing the property after he refused. In 2023, the Lahore High Court ordered the de-sealing of the Haveli, allowing Sheikh Rasheed to regain control.
