In a recent podcast, Pakistani model and actress Saheefa Jabbar Khattak spoke about mental health, especially depression, and cleared up some misunderstandings about its treatment in religion. She explained that while Islam and the Holy Quran talk about depression, they do not say that it shouldn’t be treated.
Saheefa Jabbar said we need to understand how it should be treated, whether it’s a physical or mental illness. She compared depression to other health problems, saying it also requires proper care and treatment.
During the podcast, Saheefa Jabbar also talked about how people judge her based on her religious beliefs. She mentioned that if she says she prays five times a day, people might criticize her because she has a visible tattoo. She believes that people should focus on improving themselves rather than judging others.
She also shared that many people suggest reciting or listening to verses from the Quran to deal with depression. While she believes in the power of spirituality, she emphasizes that medical help is also necessary. As a Muslim, I believe in the Quran and recite its verses, but some pains can’t be healed without medical treatment, she said.
