We had no initial information about the woman involved, said the DIG. All data on Khalilur Rehman’s mobile was erased, but we managed to retrieve information and subsequently arrested the suspects. Kishore added that the investigation is ongoing and explores multiple angles, with the primary suspect being a resident of Gujranwala. On July 21, four individuals were apprehended in Lahore for allegedly kidnapping, robbing, and torturing Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar under the pretense of creating a drama. According to the FIR filed by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, the incident began on the night of July 15. At midnight, he said I received a call from an unknown number. The caller, identifying herself as Amina Urooj, claimed to be a fan and expressed interest in producing a drama with him.
Urooj sent Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to the location in Bahria Town, where he arrived at 4:40 PM. Upon his arrival, she welcomed him but soon left to answer a knock at the door, claiming a delivery had arrived. To Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s shock, seven armed men stormed in, searched him, and took his wallet containing Rs. 2 lakh and a mobile phone.
The FIR details how the armed individuals beat Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and forced him to an ATM, demanding his password at gunpoint. They withdrew Rs. 2.67 lakh and threatened his life. They demanded 1 crore rupees from me, He recalled. When I said I didn’t have that amount, they kidnapped me and took me to a flat with five armed men.
The suspects then coerced Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar into a car, continuing their demands for money. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar attempted to contact friends and relatives for financial help. I called a friend, asking for 10 lakh rupees, but he apologized, saying he didn’t have the funds, he said. After driving around for some time, the kidnappers eventually pushed him out of the car at a deserted location and fled.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar highlighted the modus operandi of the kidnappers, who extort money from high-profile individuals through deception. These criminals target prominent people under pretenses to extort money, he emphasized.
The incident has raised significant concern over the safety of public figures and the increasing boldness of criminal activities. Authorities are rigorously investigating the case to ensure justice is served and prevent such occurrences in the future. Law enforcement’s prompt action in apprehending the suspects has been praised, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened security and vigilance.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s courage in coming forward with his story is commendable, and his experience sheds light on the darker aspects of fame. As investigations continue, his fans and the public await further developments, hoping for swift justice and improved safety measures.
