This happened on December 11, before a game against the Hobart Hurricanes. Tom was practising his bowling run-up, which means he was running and pretending to bowl to get ready for the game.

The umpire told him not to run on a certain part of the cricket field, but Tom did it again from the other side. The umpire stood in front of him to stop him, and Tom asked the umpire to move. The umpire had to step aside to avoid running into Tom. People in charge of the cricket games looked at what happened and decided Tom did something wrong by not listening and being too forceful with the umpire.

Even though Tom and his team did not agree with this decision, he was still not allowed to play in the next four games. This was a big deal because players are expected to be respectful, especially towards umpires who make sure the game is played fairly.
